Worship: A Response to Who God Is

Worship is more than a song we sing or a moment on Sunday morning, it’s a response. A response to God’s greatness, His love, His presence, and His gift to us through Jesus. When we worship, we lift our eyes off what’s happening around us and fix our hearts on the One who holds all things together.

In Luke 2:11 we read,“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

This verse is a reminder that worship begins with wonder. God stepped into our world. The Savior came, not distant or unreachable, but present, near, and with us. Worship is our way of saying, “Lord, You are worthy.”

Why We Worship

Worship is more than music, it’s a posture of the heart. It declares that Jesus is King, Savior, and Lord. It reminds our souls of what is true when life feels loud or uncertain. When we worship as families, we build a foundation in our homes that says, Christ is at the center here.

Worship shifts our perspective. It pulls us out of routine and awakens gratitude. It reminds us that Jesus didn’t just come in a story we celebrate once a year, He came for us, to save us, to walk with us every day.

Talking Together as a Family

Use one question a day this week, or talk through several at dinner or before bedtime. Let these conversations draw your family closer to Jesus and to one another.

  • What does it mean to you that Jesus was born for us?

  • Why do you think God chose to send a Savior instead of something else?

  • How does knowing Jesus is Christ the Lord change the way we live?

  • What do you think the shepherds felt when they heard this news?

  • How can we celebrate Jesus' birth in our home beyond Christmas day?

  • Why is Jesus being born in David’s city important?

  • What is one way we can share the good news of Jesus with others this week?

Talking about God together is worship. Listening to one another is worship. And living out our faith is worship.

A Family Prayer

Lord, You are our Savior today and forever. In You we have true life. We praise You in our home and outside of our home. Lord, bless this day and the days to come. Let us truly see the significance of this season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
