Honoring the Name Above All: A Family Reflection on God's Sovereignty

Have you ever thought about how powerful it is to know someone by name—especially when that name carries authority, identity, and presence? In Scripture, the name of the Lord is more than a label—it’s a declaration of who He is.

Psalm 83:18 says:“That they may know that You alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.”

This verse reminds us that God is not one of many—He is the only Most High. He alone deserves our highest worship and full trust. His name represents His power, His presence, and His reign over all creation. As a family, learning to honor and lift high the name of the Lord centers our hearts in humility, worship, and truth.

A great way to reflect on this together is by listening to “Jehovah” (feat. Chris Brown) by Elevation Worship. This powerful song magnifies the name of the Lord and helps us remember that He reigns over every part of our lives—our homes, our struggles, and our future.

You can find the song on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

Let this be a week where your family sets aside intentional moments to talk, listen, and worship together. There’s something beautiful that happens when we align our homes with the truth that God alone is Most High.

Family Discussion Questions (one for each day this week):

  1. What does this verse tell us about who God is?

  2. Why is it important that God's name is known around the world?

  3. What does it mean that God is “Most High over all the earth”?

  4. How can we honor God's name in our family?

  5. Why do you think the Bible emphasizes that God alone is the Most High?

  6. In what ways do we sometimes forget that God is in control of everything?

  7. How can we help others know who God is?
