Holy Forever: Behold the Lamb of God

Seeing Jesus for Who He Truly Is

There are moments in Scripture that stop us in our tracks, and John 1:29 is one of them. When John the Baptist sees Jesus approaching, he doesn’t introduce Him as a teacher, a miracle worker, or even a king. He declares, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” In one sentence, John reveals the heart of the gospel. Jesus is not only holy and perfect, He is the sacrifice God lovingly provided for us.

The Lamb Who Takes Away Sin

Calling Jesus the Lamb of God points back to God’s redemptive plan woven throughout Scripture. Lambs were offered as sacrifices, reminding God’s people that sin carried a cost. Yet those sacrifices were temporary. Jesus came as the final and perfect Lamb, fully holy and completely willing. He didn’t just cover sin, He took it away. That truth reshapes how we see God. He is not distant or harsh, but merciful, intentional, and deeply loving toward the world He created.

Why Jesus Came

This verse helps us understand why Jesus came to earth in the first place. He came to rescue, to restore, and to redeem. He stepped into our brokenness so we could walk in freedom. Knowing that Jesus removes sin invites us to approach God with confidence instead of fear. We don’t have to earn His love or clean ourselves up first. Jesus has already done the work.

Living in Light of This Truth

When we truly grasp that Jesus is the Lamb who takes away sin, it changes how we live and worship. Gratitude grows. Humility deepens. Worship becomes more than a song, it becomes a response. As families, this truth shapes how we extend grace, how we forgive, and how we teach our children about God’s holiness and mercy. We worship not out of obligation, but out of awe.

A Rhythm of Family Worship

This week, take time as a family to reflect on who Jesus is and what He has done. Let conversations flow naturally around the beauty of His sacrifice and the holiness of His name. Worship together, reminding one another that Jesus is worthy of all praise, today and forever.

Prayer

Lord, You are holy forever. As a family, we will continue to sing of how great and holy You are. Thank You for paying the price for our sins. Your name is the highest and greatest in our lives. May our family continually seek You and walk in Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
