Resurrection Day: The Hope of Easter
He Is Risen
Easter is the foundation of our faith and the greatest victory in history. In Matthew 28:5–6, the angel declares, “Do not be afraid… He is not here, for He has risen, as He said.” These words changed everything. What once seemed like defeat at the cross became victory through the empty tomb. Jesus did exactly what He promised; He rose again.
A Promise Fulfilled
The resurrection is not just an event; it is the fulfillment of God’s promises. Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that God keeps His Word. Jesus said He would rise, and He did. This moment confirms that everything He spoke is true. Because He conquered death, we can trust Him fully with our lives.
Verses like John 11:25–26 remind us that Jesus is “the resurrection and the life.” In John 6:40, we are promised that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. The resurrection proves that death does not have the final say, Jesus does.
A Living Hope
Because Jesus is alive, we have a living hope. 1 Peter 1:3 tells us that we are born again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This hope is not temporary or uncertain. It is secure, anchored in the victory of Christ.
Even in difficult seasons, this truth remains: God is still working. Romans 6:4 reminds us that just as Christ was raised from the dead, we too can walk in newness of life. The resurrection is not only about eternity, it impacts how we live today.
Victory Over Death
The resurrection declares that sin and death have been defeated. 1 Corinthians 6:14 assures us that God raised the Lord and will also raise us by His power. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 reinforces this hope, that those who believe in Jesus will live again.
Even the Old Testament points to this truth. Isaiah 26:19 speaks of the dead rising and rejoicing. Philippians 3:10 reminds us that we can know Christ and the power of His resurrection. This power brings life, transformation, and freedom.
Living in Resurrection Power
Because Jesus is alive, we are called to live differently. The empty tomb gives us courage, purpose, and joy. Fear no longer has control, because our Savior has overcome it. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in us.
As families, Easter is a time to reflect, celebrate, and live in this truth daily. We are not defined by our past or our struggles, we are defined by the victory of Jesus.
A Moment to Reflect Together
Take time this week to talk through these questions as a family:
Why do you think the angel told the women not to be afraid? What does it mean that Jesus “has risen, as He said”?How does the resurrection of Jesus give us hope today? Why is it important that the tomb was empty? What does this passage show us about God keeping His promises? How would you have felt if you were with the women at the tomb? How can we live differently because Jesus is alive?
Prayer
Jesus, You have risen. You have risen indeed. May our family live in Your love, under Your blessing, and in Your victory. You have conquered death and sin. In You, we have salvation and hope. We worship You today and forever. Amen. Ready to Go Deeper?
