The Majesty of God’s Name
Have you ever looked up at the sky, watched a sunset, or stood near the ocean and felt a sense of awe? Psalm 8:1 captures that feeling perfectly: “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.” This verse reminds us that God’s greatness is on display everywhere. His name is not ordinary, it is majestic, powerful, and worthy of honor.
God’s glory is not limited to one place. It fills the earth and stretches beyond the heavens. Everything we see points back to Him. Creation itself tells the story of His greatness.
What It Means That God Is Majestic
When we say God’s name is “majestic,” we are saying that He is above all things. He is greater than anything we face, stronger than any problem, and more powerful than anything in this world. His majesty means He deserves our worship, our attention, and our trust.
Yet even in His greatness, God is personal. He is not distant; He is present in our lives, in our homes, and in our everyday moments.
Honoring God in Daily Life
Recognizing God’s majesty should shape how we live. We honor Him not only through songs but through our actions, our words, and our attitudes. When we choose kindness, show gratitude, and live with integrity, we reflect His greatness to others.
As families, this can be as simple as praying together, talking about what God is doing in your lives, and pointing out His goodness in everyday moments. When we intentionally notice God’s hand, our hearts grow in gratitude.
Living in Awe of God
There is something powerful about living with a sense of awe. It shifts our focus from our problems to God’s power. It reminds us that we are not in control, but the One who is, is good and faithful.
Think about the moments when you’ve experienced God’s greatness personally, answered prayers, unexpected provision, peace in a difficult season. Those moments remind us that the same God who set His glory above the heavens is also working in our lives.

Take time this week to reflect on God’s greatness together:
What does it mean that God’s name is “majestic”? Where do you see God’s greatness in the world around you? How can we honor God’s name in our daily lives? Why do you think God’s glory is described as being above the heavens? What is one thing that makes you stand in awe of God? How can we show gratitude to God as a family this week? When have you personally experienced the greatness of God?
Prayer
