“He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.”— Matthew 28:6 (ESV)
Easter is a year-round celebration of the Risen Christ. Easter is one of the most celebrated events on the Christian calendar—and for good reason. On that glorious morning, Jesus rose from the grave, conquering sin and death and securing eternal life for all who believe in Him. But the power of the resurrection isn’t confined to one Sunday a year. It’s a truth that transforms how we live every day.
The angel’s announcement to the women at the empty tomb in Luke 24:6-7 declared:“He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”
That message wasn’t just for the early disciples—it’s for us, every day of the year.
The Foundation of Our Faith
The resurrection of Jesus is not just an event in history; it is the cornerstone of our faith. As Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4,“Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.”
When Jesus walked out of the tomb, He proved that He was the promised Messiah, that His sacrifice was accepted by God, and that death had been defeated once and for all. Without the resurrection, there is no hope, no salvation, and no victory. But because of the resurrection, everything changes.
Too often, we treat Easter like a seasonal celebration—a moment to reflect, sing songs of triumph, and then move on. But resurrection isn’t seasonal. It’s eternal. It’s not just a day to remember; it’s a reality to live by.
Living in Resurrection Power
When Jesus appeared to the disciples after His resurrection, He didn’t just offer them comfort—He gave them purpose. Matthew 28:10 says,“Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.’”
Jesus didn’t rise just to inspire awe. He rose to send His followers out with a mission. He commissioned them to make disciples of all nations, to carry the message of life and victory to the world. That same mission belongs to us today.
Because Jesus lives, we face every trial with confidence. As Philippians 3:10 says,“That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.”
This resurrection power is not abstract—it’s active. It gives us strength when we are weak, peace when we are anxious, and courage when we are afraid. His life fuels our daily walk.
Born Again to a Living Hope
The resurrection of Christ isn’t just about our past—it’s also about our future. 1 Peter 1:3 declares,“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
This “living hope” means we don’t have to live in fear of death or despair. We have been given new life—real life—through Christ. His resurrection assures us that sin, shame, and death no longer have power over us. We are free to live boldly and joyfully in Him.
Sharing the Greatest News
Think about the last time you experienced something amazing—maybe a delicious meal, a great movie, or a beautiful place. You probably wanted to tell someone about it! When something touches our hearts, we naturally want to share it.
How much more should we be eager to share the greatest news of all—the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Acts 3:15 tells us that the people rejected Jesus and chose a murderer instead, but Peter boldly proclaimed:“You killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.”
That boldness didn’t come from their own strength—it came from the power of the risen Christ. We, too, are witnesses to this truth. If the resurrection has changed our lives, we can’t help but share it.
Whether it’s through conversations with neighbors, encouragement to a coworker, or teaching our children, we have countless opportunities to tell others that Jesus is alive. The joy of salvation is too good to keep to ourselves.
Resurrection Changes Everything
Romans 6:8-11 reminds us of the profound truth of our union with Christ:“Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.”
Because Jesus defeated death, we no longer live under its shadow. We have been given new life, not just someday in heaven, but right now. Through the cross, we are forgiven. Through the resurrection, we are made victorious.
1 Peter 2:24 adds,“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
This is our identity as believers—redeemed, restored, and raised to life with Christ.
Easter | A Year-Round Celebration of the Risen Christ
As followers of Jesus, we are resurrection people. Let’s not save the celebration for one Sunday in spring. Let’s rejoice daily in the victory of our Savior.
Here are some simple ways to keep the resurrection front and center in your life all year long:
Worship daily – Celebrate Jesus’ victory in your personal time with God through songs, prayer, and Scripture.
Share boldly – Look for opportunities to tell others about what Christ has done in your life.
Live joyfully – Let your life be marked by the hope and peace that only the risen Savior can give.
Walk faithfully – Obey Jesus’ commission to make disciples, living as one who is alive in Him.
Jesus is alive—and that truth changes everything, not just for one day, but for eternity.
Reflection Questions:
How does the resurrection of Jesus impact the way you live your daily life?
In what ways can you celebrate and remember Christ’s victory throughout the year?
How can you share the message of the risen Savior with those around you?
Are there areas in your life where you need to trust more in the power of the resurrection?
What can you do today to reflect the joy and hope of Christ’s resurrection to others?
The empty tomb is not just a symbol of hope—it is the reality that gives our faith meaning, our hearts joy, and our lives purpose. Let’s live every day in the power of the resurrection, boldly proclaiming with our lives: He is risen indeed!
