The Power of the Name of Jesus
The Power of the Name of Jesus

Have you ever stopped to think about the power in someone’s name? A name can carry weight, authority, and meaning. But there is one name that stands above every other—the name of Jesus.

In Philippians 2:9–11, we’re reminded just how powerful the name of Jesus truly is. God has exalted Him and given Him the name above all names. One day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That’s not just a future promise—it’s a truth that changes how we live right now.

When we speak the name of Jesus, we’re calling on the One who defeated death, forgives sins, and gives new life. His name brings peace to our homes, strength in our weakness, and hope in every season. Teaching our families to honor and worship His name sets the foundation for a life centered on truth and grace.

A powerful worship song to listen to together this week is “Mighty Name of Jesus” (Feat. Hope Darst) by The Belonging Co. It’s a bold reminder of who Jesus is and the power that comes when we lift His name in praise. You can find it on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

Take time each day this week to talk through one of the questions below. Let the name of Jesus be more than something we say—let it be the center of our hearts and home.

Family Discussion Questions (one for each day this week):

  1. What does it mean that Jesus has the name above every name?

  2. Why do you think God highly exalted Jesus?

  3. How do we show respect for the name of Jesus in our home?

  4. What do you picture when you hear “every knee will bow”?

  5. Why is it important to confess that Jesus is Lord?

  6. How can we bring glory to God the Father like Jesus does?

  7. What does this verse teach us about who Jesus truly is?

Scripture:Philippians 2:9–11“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Prayer:Lord, we lift Your name on high. We praise You, Jesus. You are Lord! Fill our home with Your joy and love. May we continue to grow in Your Word and in prayer. We glorify Your name. Amen.
