God’s Rich Mercy and Great Love
Have you ever paused to think about just how much God loves you? It’s easy to take His mercy and grace for granted when life gets busy. But Ephesians 2:4–6 gives us a powerful reminder of who God is and what He’s done for us:
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions, it is by grace you have been saved.”
This verse paints a picture of the gospel in just a few words. God didn’t wait for us to earn His love, He gave it freely. His mercy isn’t limited or conditional; it’s rich, overflowing, and personal. And through Jesus, we’ve been made alive, forgiven, restored, and given a brand-new start.
Worship That Reminds Us of His Goodness
A worship song that beautifully expresses this truth is “Goodness of God (feat. Ileia Sharaé)” by Church of the City. It’s a song that celebrates God’s faithfulness and reminds us that His goodness has been running after us all along.
When we worship, we’re not just singing words, we’re responding to the mercy and grace we’ve experienced firsthand. Each lyric is a reminder that even in our lowest moments, God’s love never gave up on us. As your family listens to “Goodness of God” this week, take a few moments to think about how His mercy has touched your lives in real ways.
You can find the song on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
Family Connection
Use one of these questions each day this week to help your family grow together in understanding God’s mercy and grace:
What does it mean that God is “rich in mercy”?
How has God shown His great love to our family?
What does it mean to be “made alive with Christ”?
Why do you think grace is so important in our relationship with God?
How can we show mercy to others like God shows mercy to us?
What does being “saved by grace” tell us about God’s heart toward us?
How can our family live in a way that shows we are alive in Christ?
These conversations can help bring God’s Word to life in your home and remind everyone that grace isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we live out every day.
Prayer
“Lord, You are rich in mercy, and Your love is great toward us. Because of Jesus, we have life everlasting. Your grace makes it all possible. Help us to live in the fullness of the life You provide. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
