Do Justice, Love Kindness, and Walk Humbly

What Does God Really Want From Us?

Have you ever wondered what God desires most from His people? Sometimes we can make following God seem complicated. We wonder if we're doing enough or saying the right things. Yet Micah 6:8 gives us one of the clearest summaries of what a life that pleases God looks like:

"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

God isn't looking for empty religious routines or impressive outward appearances. He desires hearts that reflect His character through the way we live every day.

Do Justice

To do justice means choosing what is right, fair, and honorable.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to stand up for truth, treat others with dignity, and care for those who are hurting. Justice begins in our everyday relationships. It means telling the truth, keeping our promises, showing integrity, and treating people the way God would want them to be treated. Our homes should be places where fairness, honesty, and compassion are practiced daily.

Love Kindness

God doesn't simply tell us to show kindness. He tells us to love it.

Kindness reflects the heart of God. It is patient when others are difficult. It forgives when offended. It serves without expecting something in return. Sometimes the greatest testimony our family can give is not through big accomplishments but through small acts of love shown consistently. A kind word, a listening ear, an encouraging text, or a simple act of generosity can point someone toward Jesus.

Walk Humbly With God

Humility means recognizing that we need God every single day.

Instead of relying on our own wisdom, strength, or success, we choose to depend upon Him. Walking humbly means seeking His guidance before making decisions, giving Him credit for every blessing, and remaining teachable as He continues to shape our lives.

The closer we walk with God, the more we begin to reflect His love, mercy, and grace.

As a family, imagine the difference it would make if every day we intentionally pursued justice, loved kindness, and walked humbly with the Lord. Our homes would become places where Christ is clearly seen through both our words and our actions.

Listen to Hosanna by The Belonging Co featuring Kari Jobe as a family this week. As you worship together, ask God to shape your hearts to reflect His character by doing what is right, loving others deeply, and walking humbly with Him every day.

Prayer

Lord, help us to do justice and love kindness and walk humbly with You. We honor You and Your Word. We don't just want to be hearers, we also want to be doers of what You have said. Bless our home and family. In Jesus' name, Amen.
