Blessed Are Those Who Obey

Hearing and Keeping God’s Word
In Luke 11:28, Jesus says, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” This verse reminds us that it’s not enough to simply listen to God’s Word—we are called to live it out. Blessing comes through obedience. Hearing God’s Word fills our hearts with truth, but keeping it transforms our lives.
When we obey, we show that we trust God’s wisdom above our own. Obedience opens the door to God’s blessing, not just for us individually, but for our families, communities, and future generations.
Worship That Helps Us Say “Yes”
A worship song that captures this heart of obedience is I Say Yes by Radiant Collective (featuring Cortney Shaw and Jason Barican). The lyrics remind us that following Jesus means surrendering to His will and responding with a willing “yes.” As you listen as a family, let it inspire you to choose obedience in the small and big moments of life.
Family Connection
Use these questions throughout the week to spark meaningful family conversations:
What does Jesus mean by being “blessed”?
How is hearing God’s Word different from keeping (obeying) it?
Why do you think obedience is important to God?
Can you think of a time when you obeyed God’s Word and were blessed?
What makes it difficult sometimes to keep God’s Word?
How can our family help each other live out God’s Word?
What is one command or teaching of Jesus you want to obey this week?
These questions will help your family not only talk about God’s Word but also put it into practice together.
Living in Obedience
Living a life of obedience is not always easy, but it always draws us closer to God. Each step of obedience builds trust, strengthens faith, and brings blessing. As a family, you can encourage each other daily to not only hear God’s Word but also live it out with joy and faithfulness.
