A Year That Begins With Praise
As a new year begins, many of us think about plans, goals, and unknowns. There’s excitement, but sometimes a little uncertainty too. Psalm 150:6 gives us a simple and powerful starting point for the year ahead: praise. Before we figure everything out, before we know what this year will hold, God invites us to lift our hearts and voices to Him.
Praise doesn’t depend on circumstances. It flows from who God is. As long as we have breath, we have a reason to praise the Lord.
Everything With Breath Has a Purpose
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” This verse reminds us that praise is not reserved for special moments or perfect days. It’s the natural response of a life touched by God. If we’re breathing, we’re invited to praise.
That means praise belongs in our homes, our conversations, our routines, and even in the quiet moments no one else sees. God has given us life, and our praise is a joyful way of returning that gift back to Him.
Praise Sets the Tone for the Year Ahead
Starting the year with praise shifts our focus. Instead of beginning with fear, pressure, or uncertainty, we begin with trust. Praise reminds us that God is already present in the days ahead. He is faithful, attentive, and good.
When we praise God together as a family, we’re declaring that no matter what comes, He is worthy. Praise anchors our hearts and keeps us grounded when the future feels unclear.
Worship as a Family Rhythm
This week, take time to worship together as a family. One helpful song to guide that moment is:
Can’t Help But Praise by Lizzie Morgan
Let worship become a regular rhythm in your home, not just something you do at church, but something that fills everyday moments with gratitude and joy.
Scripture to Hold Onto
Psalm 150:6“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!”
Read this verse together and talk about what it means to praise God with your whole life, not just with words.
Connect as a Family
Use one question each day to spark meaningful conversation:
What does it mean that everything with breath is called to praise the Lord?
Why is praising God a great way to start a new year?
How can our family praise God in everyday moments this year?
What is one reason we can praise God from the past year?
How does praise help our hearts when the new year feels unknown?
What are simple ways we can remind each other to praise God this year?
How can praising God together draw our family closer to Him in the year ahead?
Prayer
Lord, we praise You in our home and within our family. Thank You for Your loving care and constant attention toward us. We invite You into every moment of this year in our home. Bless us, protect us, and fill our home with Your peace and joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As this year unfolds, may praise be the soundtrack of your home. With every breath, every step, and every season, may your family find joy in lifting up the One who is always worthy.
